Silver City - Lance Armstrong's Team RadioShack have added the Tour of the Gila in New Mexico to their competition calendar.
Team manager Johan Bruyneel announced on his blog that the annual stage race would allow some of the team's US riders to compete before the Tour of California in May.
The Gila runs from April 28 to May 2.
Bruyneel didn't say which team members would race in New Mexico, where Armstrong and then-Astana teammates Levi Leipheimer and Chris Horner competed last year as independents.
Last week, Armstrong pulled out of the Circuit de la Sarthe because of a stomach illness.
He was competing in the four-day race to prepare for the Tour de France.
He also plans to ride in the Tour of California before returning to Europe in June.
Armstrong used the low-key Tour of the Gila last year as his comeback from a broken collarbone and tuneup for the Giro d'Italia. He finished second behind Leipheimer in the five-day race.
