Olympians in SA cycling team

Johannesburg - All four of South Africa's road cyclists at the London Olympic Games have been selected in the national team for the UCI Road World Championships in Limburg, Netherlands, between September 15 and 23.

Daryl Impey, the lone SA competitor in the men's race in the English capital, will spearhead a trio of men in the elite race at the global championships.

Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio, Robyn de Groot and Joanna van de Winkel have all been included in the six-strong women's team, along with Cherise Stander, who was controversially omitted from the Olympic squad.

SA road cycling team:

Elite men: Daryl Impey (road race), Jay Thomson (road race and time trial), Reinardt Janse van Rensburg (road race and time trial).

Under-23 men: Louis Meintjies (road race and time trial)

Junior men: Rohan du Plooy (road race and time trial), Ryan Gibbons (road race), Ryan Felgate (road race).

Elite women: Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio (road race), Cherise Stander (road race and time trial), Robyn de Groot (road race), Joanna van de Winkel (road race), Lise Olivier (road race), An-Li Pretorius (road race)

Junior women: Heidi Dalton (road race and time trial).
