Martin stable after car crash
Zurich - Germany's world time trial champion Tony Martin has been hospitalised here after being knocked down by a car during training, his Omega Pharma team announced on Thursday.
Martin lost consciousness after the collision and suffered a fractured cheekbone which could require surgery.
The 26-year-old was treated in the local hospital at Munsterlingen before being transferred to Zurich's University Hospital where his condition was described as stable.
"In agreement with the team medical staff today (Thursday) Tony Martin will undergo further specific examinations that will define the treatment he will need at that point," his Belgian team said in a statement.
"Tony's clinical condition is being constantly monitored by the hospital staff and the team's medical staff. Tony's family is with him."
