Liqui-Fruit to sponsor Cape Epic

Cape Town - Liqui-Fruit will be the official juice sponsor of the 2013 Absa Cape Epic when 1 200 riders take on a gruelling 800km over eight days from March 17-24 in the Western Cape.

Liqui-Fruit has simultaneously announced its title sponsorship of the Vineyard races which take place on the final day of the Absa Cape Epic at Lourensford Wine Estate. Known as the Liqui-Fruit Cape Times Vineyard races, these events are open to the public and are far less extreme. Apart from a 29km and 56km Mountain Bike Race, there will also be a 6km and 15km trail run.

All mountain bike and trail running races have uniquely designed routes, independent of the Absa Cape Epic route, that cater for all outdoor enthusiasts of all fitness levels.

The majority of the Liqui-Fruit Cape Times Vineyard Race participants will finish their race before the winners of the Epic are expected to arrive, so after completing the race, you can wind down and help cheer in the Absa Cape Epic riders.

Liqui-Fruit iCan which raises funds for Operation Smile South Africa, will be the official charity of the Liqui-Fruit Cape Times Vineyard races. Operation Smile funds corrective surgery for children born with cleft lips and cleft palates, helping to give these children their smiles back.

Riders and runners will enjoy Liqui-Fruit’s Vitality 100% fruit juice range with Superseed™ grape seed extract. This powerful natural antioxidant helps the body to protect itself against free radicals by reducing cell damage and provides a welcome boost to the immune system.  Due to the fact that red grape also releases energy slowly, athletes will be able to sustain energy over longer periods. Juices will therefore be available to the riders throughout the day as they will have different energy needs at different times of the day.

The three great tasting flavours, Pomegranate & Red Grape, Blueberry & Blackcurrant and Strawberry & Blackcurrant, are made with the goodness of exotic superfruit, all renowned for their health-boosting and free radical-fighting properties, providing a rush of goodness with every sip.

Says Michelle van Schalkwyk, Liqui-Fruit’s Marketing manager, “We believe that our involvement in the race is twofold. Firstly, the country’s premier athletes will need the country’s premier juice. They deserve a reliable beverage partner and we will be there to meet their expectations.  Secondly, and more importantly, the Vineyard races epitomise what the Vitality range stands for, namely fun and fitness. The brand is not about the extreme, but supports a healthy lifestyle and that for us, equates to balance. That’s why we would like people to dust off their running shoes and come and join us for a fun, but tough race”.
