Madrid - Daniel Martin, the leader of the Garmin-Sharp team, pulled out of the Tour of Spain on Saturday after suffering a heavy fall during Friday's seventh stage.
The 27-year-old Irishman, who has had his best season this year winning the Liege-Bastogne-Liege classic, the Tour of Catalonia and a stage in the Tour de France, was left concussed after the fall team director Bingen Fernandez confirmed.
As a result it was decided that Martin wouldn't start Saturday's 166km ride from Jerez to Estepona.
