Dan Martin joins Etixx-Quick Step

Paris - Daniel Martin has joined heavyweights Etixx-Quick Step for next season, the Belgian team said on Friday.

Martin, 29, won the prestigious Ardennes Classic Liege-Bastogne-Liege in 2013, the same year he won a stage of the Tour de France.

"He's a guy who was able in the past to win one-day races, but also stage races," said Etixx CEO Patrick Lefevere.

"He has also been a GC (general classification) contender at grand tours during his career. He is now 29-years-old, so he is at the peak of his career."

Martin said: "I'm really excited to join the team, which has been a point of reference in cycling for years."

Martin, currently riding the Vuelta a Espana, will leave Cannondale-Garmin, where he has ridden since turning professional in 2008.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
