Marbella - Yauheni Hutarovich of Belarus edged Mark Cavendish in a sprint finish to win the second stage of the Tour of Spain here on Sunday, but the Briton retains the leader's red jersey.

Hutarovich, of the Francaise des Jeux team, surprised the Isle of Man rider, who won Saturday's team time trial with HTC Columbia, to snatch victory at the end of the 173.7-kilometre course from Alcala de Guadaira to Marbella in southern Spain.

Third was American Tyler Farrar, ahead of Italy's Alessandro Petacchi.
