Cycling SA urged to step up

Johannesburg - The South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC) has called on Cycling South Africa to revise its constitution to bring it into line with the process underway in many of the 74 affiliated national sporting federations.

The call was made at a meeting between senior SASCOC officials and representatives of Cycling SA on Saturday.

The media was barred from attending the meeting, but Cycling SA said in a statement afterwards that the meeting had been held in a positive and constructive atmosphere.

Cycling SA said that SASCOC had reaffirmed its partnership with the cycling governing body.

Because of the need to revise its constitution, Cycling SA's planned congress next week has been postponed to February 2012, to coincide with the election of office bearers. The Board of Cycling SA will meet next week.
