Corporate Games launches

Cape Town - On Thursday, November 15, 2012, a high-profile audience of local and regional based corporate leaders gathered alongside numerous sporting and civic influences from the Western Cape to celebrate the Official Launch of the second edition of Corporate Games in Cape Town.

The launch took place at Atlantic Imbizo Conference & Function Studio situated at the Host Venue for the 2013 Games, the V&A Waterfront. On arrival guest were welcomed by the team of 3rd South Africa, the Official License Holder of Corporate Games South Africa and introduced to the official partners and sponsors. A brief overview was given of the Cape Town Corporate Games, informing guests on what they can expect in 2013.

A few familiar companies and organisations at the Launch were, The City of Cape Town, Western Cape Government, V&A Waterfront, Shell Oil, PMI, Super Brands, Galetti, Kilowatt AV, Alexander Forbes, PEP Stores, Sanlam, Deloitte, Ratanga Junction, Red Bull, Chatroom, Swindon Properties, G4S Security, Promo Africa, SAB, SAP and SA Navy to name just a few.

From the media industry, the presence of Sport24, Cape Media, Leadership, Bizcommunity.com, Media24, Men’s Health and Women's Health were all welcomed.

Among the guest speakers were Frederick Stroebel, Human Resource Manager at Sanlam and Stuart McConnell from theTag Rugby® Association.

Stroebel commented: “Sanlam is proud to be part of the first Corporate Games to be hosted in South Africa. It was a truly magnificent weekend with brutal competition and friendly camaraderie on and off the field. There is no doubt in our minds that this will grow to one of the big sporting events on the calendar for Cape Town and corporate social events in South Africa. We thank the organisers for all their arrangements at the various venues across the Peninsula and congratulate them on delivering a very successful event!”

McConnell commented: “We are extremely excited about our involvement in the Corporate Games 2013. Having the support of the Games as their charity allows us to provide Siyabulela Primary School in Langa with Tag Rugby® equipment, training and exposure to sport through our Adopt a School programme.

Nicole Visser commented: “The Games allow companies to build brand awareness through CSR while communicating the strengths of the organisation to the extensive and influential Corporate Games audience in an event featuring a unique mix of sport, business and tourism.“

The Corporate Games will be staged at a selection of the best venues in Cape Town which will showcase their outstanding facilities, one of which is the V&A Waterfront that will play host to a major concentration of the sporting codes and festivities over the period of June 6-9, 2013.

As the Logistics Partner for Cape Town Corporate Games 2013, Springbok Atlas revealed that they will be providing a bus route from the Host Venue, V&A Waterfront, to specialised venues for selected sports during the Games weekend. With the assistance of Springbok Atlas, the Games will bring teams together and show them the impact and importance of supporting their fellow colleagues.

There are a variety of sports to choose from with added sports from last year’s already fun filled list. Participants can select from dragon boat racing, karting, running, netball, soccer, mountain biking and let's not forget tag rugby to mention a few.
