More SA medals in the pool?

Cape Town - South Africa will pick up more medals in the pool on the final evening of swimming at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, if bookmakers are to be believed.

Separated at birth? Graeme Smith and Cameron van der Burgh...

Team SA are represented in five of the eight events scheduled for Tuesday night.

In the men's 50m freestyle (20:16 SA time), Roland Schoeman and Bradley Tandy are considered as outsiders for the podium, but don't be surprised if veteran Schoeman shocks with a bronze at the very least.

SA has two bites at a medal in the men’s 200IM (20:47) in the form of Chad le Clos and Sebastien Rousseau. Le Clos is favoured to pick up the silver medal behind Australia's Daniel Tranter, while Rousseau should finish just outside the medals.

In the men’s 1 500m (21:23), Devon Brown isn't expected to see the SA flag raised as he's only the fifth favourite in the eight-man final.

The women’s 4x100m medley relay (22:02) doesn't offer much hope of a medal unfortunately, but SA can expect to finish off the swimming in Glasgow with a medal in the final race, the men's 4x100m medley relay (22:12) where our most likely scenario is a third-place bronze.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
