Basseterre - Future Commonwealth Games will be allowed to include women's boxing, women's rugby sevens and beach volleyball.
The approval by the Commonwealth Games Federation general assembly on Saturday classed all three as optional, giving future organisers the flexibility to include them on their programs.
The CGF also said it was in positive talks with the International Cricket Council to introduce the Twenty20 format as cricket was "synonymous" with the Commonwealth.
A proposal from the International Triathlon Union to introduce a mixed relay of two men and two women was also rubber-stamped, as was a proposal for World Bowls to consider adopting in the games the short form competition used in the Australian League.
