Lagoon Challenge is a go ...

The FHM Knysna Lagoon Challenge will take place again at the Knysna Yacht Club on Sunday 10th July, starting at 9.00am. Pre-race registration takes place at the Knysna Yacht Club on Saturday afternoon 9th July from 3-5pm.

The race course starts at the Yacht Club, the competitors paddle on the Knysna Lagoon towards the Knysna Heads, back with a loop through Thesen Islands, the Waterfront and Knysna Quays. The race repeats this loop for 3 laps. The event draws good public attendance, especially at the Waterfront and Knysna Yacht Club.

There are three race distances: - Main race is a K1 race, but K2's and Surfski's are also welcome to enter.
18km paddle - the main race Entry R 100.00 per paddle
6km paddle - the fun race Entry R 100.00 per paddle
Kiddies guppie race for under 12's Entry R 50.00 per paddle

Pre-race registration will take place at the Knysna Yacht Club's Loft Room (above the toilets) from 15h00 to 17h00 on Saturday 9th July where participants will be given their race packs.

All pre-entries will receive a free long sleeve t-shirt, as well as a meal and drinks voucher. The first 100 pre-entries will go into a lucky draw for a Knysna Racing Kayaks Swing split paddle.

Late entries will be accepted on Saturday, but on Sunday late entries will cost R150 and R 80 respectively. Late entries do not qualify for a t-shirt or meal voucher. The race briefing will follow at 08h45 and racing starts at 9am. (TBC confirmed, tide dependent). Prize giving will be held immediately after the event (approximately 12h30) on the lawns of the Knysna Yacht Club.
