Bookies fancy Englishman for Sun City glory

    2017-11-08 09:45

Cape Town - Nine South Africans will tee off at this year's Nedbank Golf Challenge at Sun City, but it's an Englishman who has been installed as tournament favourite.

Leading SA bookmakers BET.co.za have Tyrrell Hatton as 27/2 favourite, followed by three golfers at 31/2 - England's Ross Fisher, and local stars Louis Oosthuizen and Branden Grace.

Swede Alex Noren will be out to defend his title, while Englishman Tommy Fleetwood will look to take a step closer to wrapping up the European Tour's Race to Dubai title by increasing his lead over compatriot Justin Rose.

Noren is on offer at 22/1, while Fleetwood can be backed at 25/1.

The other South Africans in the 72-player field are on offer at: Charl Schwartzel (25/1), George Coetzee (32/1), Dylan Frittelli (59/1), Richard Sterne and Haydn Porteous (104/1), Dean Burmester (249/1) and Brandon Stone (329/1)

The Nedbank Golf Challenge is the penultimate tournament of the European Tour season and the seventh event on the Rolex Series – the European Tour's premium category of eight tournaments for the Race to Dubai.

The Nedbank Golf Challenge, now in its 37th year, will once again be played at the famed Gary Player Country Club, starting on Thursday, November 9.
