Prague - Sunette Viljoen of South Africa has broken the African record in the women's javelin by throwing 66.38 meters to beat Olympic champion Barbora Spotakova at the Josef Odlozil Memorial meet.
Viljoen won with her last throw to push world-record holder Spotakova, who threw 65.71 in the final round, into second place. Madera Palameika of Latvia was third with 60.29.
Petr Svoboda of the Czech Republic won the men's 110 hurdles in 13.27 seconds on Monday to set a new national record. Ryan Wilson of the United States came second in 13.28 and Latvia's Stanislav Olijar was third in 13.41.
