Two Oceans entries on auction

Cape Town - Entries for the Old Mutual Two Oceans Half Marathon have sold out and 16 000 runners are expected to line up at the start on Saturday, March 30, 2013.

However, Two Oceans Marathon naming rights sponsors Old Mutual are giving runners one more opportunity to take part in this year’s Half Marathon: a total of 21 Half Marathon entries go on auction from Monday, January 21, with runners bidding for one entry per day over the next 21 days.

Bidding opens at R900 and winners will be announced after each day. Successful bidders will have a chance to start with the professionals as race entries of the winning bids include an ‘A’ seeding. The auction ends on February 10.

Money raised through the auctions will go to the Two Oceans Marathon Initiative (TOMI) which provides much needed funding for a select group of charities. TOMI’s primary focus is meeting the education and sporting needs of children, providing and upgrading education facilities and resolving environmental issues involving flora and fauna.

Those interested in taking part in the auction can visit www.oldmutual.co.za/21kmauction to enter their details and begin bidding.
