Johannesburg - A 13-year old provincial athlete is fighting for his life after a taxi struck him in Ninth Street, Greymont.
Reports indicate that the boy was training when a taxi came hurtling down the road and for unknown reasons struck the athlete.
Netcare 911 and other paramedics arrived at the scene to find that the boy had been dragged several metres along the road.
After examining him they found that had sustained critical injuries.
The boy was placed on a ventilator and after deftly immobilising him, medics transported the patient to the Netcare Milpark hospital for the specialised care that he required.
