Cape Town - Now in its
third year, Red Bull LionHeart returns to the slopes of Cape Town’s Lion’s Head
on 15 November 2014 in a test of trail running skill and fitness.
For many years Lion’s Head in Cape Town has been the benchmark
for avid runners to test their trail running prowess on the mountain’s path.
Created in 2012 by trail running extraordinaire Ryan Sandes to celebrate the
opportunities Cape Town has to offer trail runners, Red Bull LionHeart has
become the ultimate test of that prowess.
On 15 November the event returns for
the third year running to see who takes top honours.
In the lead up to this year’s final keen trail runners are encouraged to set their record on the Red Bull LionHeart segment which can be found on Strava – a free-for-download app available free from on iTunes for iPhone and Playstore for Android users. The segment is a 3,7km route around the base of Lion’s Head.
The top 22 men and top 11 women on the Red Bull LionHeart segment leaderboard on Strava will receive entry into the Elite Category. A second ‘intermediate’ category will consist of men placing in positions 23-54 and women placing in positions 12-27 on the Strava leaderboard.
The top 10 men and Top 5 women from last year’s competition will received automatic entry into the final.
Last year AJ Calitz tamed the Lion for the second year running. Could we have a new winner in 2014?
