Johannesburg - Athlete Caster Semenya will return to the track in Cape Town this month, provided she passes a fitness test this week, she said on Tuesday.

The 800 metres world champion said she was still receiving treatment for a back injury that kept her out of this year's Commonwealth Games.

However, if she passed her fitness test, she would make her season debut at the Yellow Pages summer series meeting in Cape Town on December 18.

"She will run a time trial before the end of the week," said her coach Michael Seme.

"If she can run fast without any pain she will run in Cape Town," he said.
