London - There was success for Britain in the wheelchair races at the London Marathon on Sunday with Dave Weir and Shelly Woods ensuring a home double.
Weir (1:32.26) timed his finish to perfection to see off the challenge of Switzerland's Marcel Hug (1:32.27) and so win his sixth London title while Woods (1:49.10) overpowered her rivals to claim a second London victory of her career, finishing nearly four minutes ahead of Japan's Wakako Tsuchida (1:53.04).
Former South African Krige Schabort finished in third spot in a time of 1:32.28. Schabort now represents the USA.
Veteran Ernst van Dyk, a nine-time winner of the Boston Marathon, finished 10th in 1:36.01.
