Daegu - The South African men's 4X400m relay
team took silver, earning the nation's third medal at the World
Athletics Championships in Daegu, South Korea, on Friday.
The SA
quartet, which broke the national record with a slightly different team
in the heats, clocked 2:59.87 to finish second behind favourites the
United States, who won in 2:59.31. Jamaica took third in 3:00.10.
South
Africa's team consisted of Shane Victor, Ofentse Mogawane, Willem de
Beer and LJ van Zyl, the 400m hurdles bronze medallist, in the final.
However, double amputee Oscar Pistorius, who ran in the heats, will make history when he receives a medal for his contribution.
