SA juniors continue to shine

Johannesburg - Team SA sprinters Waide van Niekerk and Justin Palframan continued to keep SA athletics in the forefront, as they booked placed in the 200m semi-finals, at the IAAF World Junior Championships in Moncton Canada on Thursday.

Competing in the morning heats in rainy conditions, Free State's Van Niekerk won his heat in 21.10 secs while KwaZulu Natal's Palframan - the baby of the SA team at just 16 years of age - finished third in her heat in 24.16.

Van Niekerk's Grey College school mate Sean de Klerk was not as fortunate, finishing 5th in his heat in 22.14.

Team spirit in the Team SA camp is high after Luvo Manyonga (gold in the long jump) and Tazmin Brits (bronze in the javelin) collected medals within 30 minutes of each other on Wednesday night.
