Russian runner cops ban

Moscow - Russian middle-distance runner Olesya Syreva has been banned for two years for doping, the Russian athletics federation announced on Sunday.

Syreva, 29, the 2011 European indoor 3 000m silver medallist, was suspended over blood level discrepanices in her biological passport.

The ban came into effect on February 1 and all her results after March 3, 2011, were cancelled.
