Rodgers out US World squad

Indianapolis - Trell Kimmons will replace Mike Rodgers in the 100m on the US team for the athletics World Championships after Rodgers accepted a provisional doping suspension, USA Track and Field said on Friday.

Kimmons was already included on the final US roster submitted to the world governing body on Monday as part of the 4x100m relay pool.

Kimmons placed fourth in the 100m at the US trials in June with a time of 10.04 seconds. His personal best is 9.95 seconds.

On Monday, Rogers remained on the US roster, even though his doping case was pending. He tested positive for a banned stimulant at an athletics meeting in Italy.

However, the sprinter voluntarily withdrew from the World Championships and accepted a provisional suspension from the US Anti-Doping Agency.

Rodgers has said he unwittingly ingested the stimulant in an energy drink, and officials are still examining the details of his case.

"He won't compete until the case is resolved," USADA spokesperson Annie Skinner said on Friday.
