New tracking system at Oceans

Cape Town - MiX Telematics, a leading provider in vehicle tracking and fleet management solutions, has partnered with the Two Oceans Marathon this year to help ensure a safe and successful event.

The MiX Telematics tracking technology will be used to track the progress of the top runners, and also the positions of fleet vehicles out on the route.

The reliable tracking of fleet vehicles, which include ambulances, emergency response and sweeper vehicles, will enable quicker response times and more efficient management of the vehicles.

Cyclists who stay close to the leading male and female runners, as well as the leading veteran runner will be equipped with tracking devices.

Positions will be submitted via GPS and displayed on a map in a MiX Telematics' web application, allowing those who log in to follow the leading runners to remain up-to-date on their progress.

Monitoring of the Two Oceans fleet vehicles and the athletes in the lead, will be done from the organisers' control centre throughout the day, and in the event of an emergency they will know exactly which vehicle is closest to the location where help is needed.

Brendan Horan, Sales and Marketing Manager of MiX Telematics, says the company is pleased to be able to take its technology to this exciting, world-renowned event, and help ensure a safe and successful outcome.

"It's great to see how effectively tracking can be used in an event such as the Two Oceans. We are proud to be a part of this event and to take it into the future, using our state-of-the-art technology," he says.
