Johannesburg - Newly-elected Athletics South Africa (ASA) chairperson James Evans on Sunday said he was confident the new board will be able to win the trust of athletes again, according to a report on Eyewitnessnews.
Evans was elected as the ASA’s chairperson at an election in Kempton Park over the weekend. Former track athletes Geraldine Pillay and Arnaud Malherbe were also voted in as board members.
The organisation has not had permanent leadership since the federation’s President Leonard Chuene was suspended last year over the handling of the the Caster Semenya gender issue.
Evans said it was time to get ASA back on track.
“We have a chance now to turn it around quickly and I think we can; it is quite a strong board,” said Evans.
