Cape Town - Former long jump champion Khotso Mokoena has been withdrawn from the team that will take part in the World Indoor Championships from 9-11 March in Istanbul.
Mokoena and coach Hansie Coetzee made a decision that Mokoena is not ready to compete after his recent performances in Europe.
He competed in Dusseldorf (10 February) and Birmingham (18 February) at indoor competitions and jumped 7.98m and 7.89m respectively.
Mokoena now wants to focus all attention towards building a solid foundation as part of his Olympic preparation.
