Nairobi - Kenya collected five more gold medals on the final day to top the standings and reclaim the African athletics championships title here on Sunday.
The hosts rounded up their most successful championships when they took the men's 4x400m relay to add to the women's 20km walk race and steeplechase, the men's 1 500m and a clean sweep in the men's 5 000m, the second time the hosts swept the podium following their success in the men's 800m.
Kenya claimed 10 gold medals, seven silver and eight bronze for a total of 25, seven medals ahead of Nigeria with 18 - eight gold, five silver and five bronze - and former champions South Africa who collected 19, six of them gold.
