Stellenbosch - Just over 5 500 walkers and runners lined the streets of Stellenbosch on Friday to show their support on National Women’s Day by taking part in the fun-filled Totalsports Ladies Race.
Nedbank runner Rene Kalmer was the lady to beat in the 10km Totalsports Ladies Race crossing the finish line in an impressive time of 33:35.
According to Kalmer, so far this has been her best race of the year.
“The route was tough with a lot of twists, turns and hills. I enjoyed the last 3km the most. I love Stellenbosch, the people are really friendly. It’s strange, but I seem to have a lot of supporters here, even though I’m not from the area. The Totalsports Ladies Race is really special as it’s all about the ladies. I’ll definitely be back next year,” said Kalmer.
Bulelwa Simae came in second, while Anneline Roffey finished third.
