Moroccan runner banned for doping

Monaco - The IAAF says two-time Olympic marathon runner Abderrahime Bouramdane of Morocco has been banned for two years for doping.

Bouramdane was banned till 1 October 2017 for irregularities in his biological passport values. The 37-year-old Bouramdane has been stripped of all his race results since April 14, 2011, including his fourth-place finish at the 2011 world championships in Daegu, South Korea.

Bouramdane did not finish the marathon at the 2012 London Olympics and placed 26th in Beijing in 2008, the same year he finished runner-up at the Boston Marathon.

His career best time was 2 hours, 7 minutes, 33 seconds when placing fourth at the 2010 London Marathon.
