Tokyo - The Tokyo Olympic organizing committee decided Monday to recommend baseball-softball, karate, surfing, sports climbing and skateboarding be added to the 2020 Games.
The five sports, if accepted by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), would add 18 competitions and 474 athletes to the programme for the 2020 summer Olympic Games, the committee said.
The committee made the recommendation from a choice of eight sports. Bowling, squash and wushu did not make the cut.
The IOC will make a final decision on including the sports for 2020 next August in Rio de Janeiro, prior to the 2016 Games.
