Nijmegen - Ethiopian athletics legend Haile Gebrselassie showed a return to form here on Sunday winning the 'Seven Hills' race for his fourth victory in five races.
The 38-year-old two-time Olympic 10 000 metres champion, however, failed to break the 42 minute barrier as he finished the 15km race in 42min 42sec, some way off the world record of 41:13 held by Patrick Komon.
"The target was to go below 42 seconds but the first five kilometres were too slow," said Gebrselassie.
Victory will boost his confidence ahead of trying to finally nail his place in next year's Olympic marathon as he has failed to finish in both the New York and Berlin versions and is looking at either the Dubai or Tokyo races in January and February.
His compatriot Waganesh Mekasha won the women's race in 48min 32sec.
