Addis Ababa - Haile Gebrselassie will run the Tokyo Marathon in his first race since coming out of his short-lived retirement.
The Ethiopian great says on Twitter that he has no more pain in his knee and "my next race will be Tokyo Marathon in February."
Japanese organizers confirmed on Thursday that Gebrselassie will compete in the Tokyo race on February 27.
Gebrselassie announced his retirement after pulling out of the New York City Marathon on November 7 with 16km to go because of a knee injury.
But the world record-holder reversed his decision Monday and said he would continue running through the 2012 London Olympics.
Gebrselassie says on Twitter: "Did a 90 minutes run this morning, it was great. No pain in my knee and relieved to know that I can continue what I love doing!"
