Entries open for CT marathon

Cape Town - Online entries for the 2013 Cape Town Marathon and Cape Town 10km race have officially opened, organisers announced on Friday.

Prospective Runners have been urged to enter the race, which takes place on Sunday, September 22.

The marathon is a qualifier for the 2014 Comrades and Two Oceans marathons, and the fast, flat route provides elite athletes with the opportunity to post a personal best. The eight-hour cut-off ensures first timers and walkers can complete the distance under less pressure.

The marathon and 10km routes will start in Adderley Street at 06:30, allowing participants to get going early. The marathon route takes runners out to Rondebosch before looping back to the City via the V&A Waterfront, Sea Point and the Green Point Common.

The 10km has a two-hour cut-off, so walkers are welcome as they have ample time to complete the event and earn a medal.

The Cape Town Marathon festival weekend also includes a 5km Fun Run and a 5 x 4.2km relay for clubs, companies and schools on Saturday, September 21.

Runners can enter online at www.capetowncitymarathon.com, while entries close on September 9.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
