Johannesburg - World 800m champion Caster Semenya's comeback race in Finland will be broadcast live on SuperSport 2 on Thursday evening.

The 19-year-old, who was forced to sit on the sidelines during an 11-month probe into her gender status, was recently given the go-ahead by the IAAF to start running again.

Despite concerns over her fitness, Semenya is desperate to compete and has opted for this low-level meeting in Europe.

Due to being unfit, Semenya was recently omitted from the SA team for the Africa Championships in Nairobi later this month.

However, she is aiming to be in peak shape for the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi, India in October.

SuperSport will broadcast both 800m races from Finland, with coverage starting on SuperSport 2 at 19:00.

Semenya's race is due to start at 19:25.
