Prague - Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt will run a 300m race at the Golden Spike event in the eastern Czech city of Ostrava on May 27, the organisers said in Prague on Wednesday.
Alfonz Juck, sports manager of the event, said Bolt's fourth appearance in Ostrava would be "his only race outside the Diamond League" comprising 14 events, which has replaced the Golden League as of this year.
"There was considerable pressure for the Diamond League to keep exclusivity for Bolt, but he himself insisted he would run in Ostrava," Juck told reporters.
Bolt, who won three Olympic gold medals in Beijing in 2008 and three gold medals at the athletics world championships in Berlin last year, holds world records in the 100- and 200-metre sprint events.
Juck said the 300m distance may serve Bolt as a test before his widely anticipated switch to 400m.
American Michael Johnson set the 300m world record at 30.85 seconds in Pretoria in 2000.
