Johannesburg - Track and field athletics is based on business - just ask the athletes who will be out to lay their hands on more of the sponsor's cash when Yellow Pages Series athletics action draws the crowds to the University of Johannesburg Stadium on Wednesday.
The action starts at 17:00.
Olympic 3 000 metres steeplechase finalist Ruben Ramolefi (800 metres) and Rene Kalmer (800 metres), will be among a host of athletes that will be in the hunt for the Athlete of the Meet incentives of R15 000 for the top male and female performance on the night.
Once the athletes points has been accumulated and totalled, based on their performances, during the six Series meetings and the SA Senior Track and Field Championships, the top male and female athlete on the points rankings will take home R100 000 each.
At the fourth leg of the Series at the University of Johannesburg, fast times are on the cards with athletes running on tartan that is rated as one of the quickest track surfaces in SA.
With the event being just three days after the SA Senior Championships in Durban, the stars of track and field will be hoping to carry their form from the championships into the event, in order to give the public much to cheer about.
