ASA board back in control

Johannesburg - A year after taking over the administration of Athletics South Africa (ASA), the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC) relinquished control of the sport to the newly elected ASA board on Friday.

"It is a complete handover," SASCOC president Tubby Reddy said in a statement.

ASA administrator Ray Mali would remain involved with the federation until conclusion of investigations against suspended president Leonard Chuene and two other board members.

ASA affairs, however, would be controlled by the nine-member ASA board headed by chairperson James Evans.

"The administration of the sport will again be the responsibility of ASA's board," Reddy said.
