Surf still dead at J-Bay

Jeffreys Bay - With only inconsistent, small one-to-two foot (0.5 metre) waves on offer on Wednesday morning, event organisers at the Billabong Pro Jeffreys Bay again called competition off for the day.

The fourth stop on the 2011 ASP World Title season, the Billabong Pro Jeffreys Bay has completed the first round and a half of competition and will look to recommence in the next several days with a promising-looking SSW swell on the charts.

"Small surf again today so we've called competition off," Rich Porta, ASP International Head Judge, said. "It can be frustrating, but this is why we have waiting periods. We are still tracking some promising swell for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, possibly filling in tomorrow so we'll look to get underway here again soon."

Surfline, official forecasters for the Billabong Pro Jeffreys Bay, are calling for a solid SSW swell to begin filling in late tomorrow and build through the weekend.

Event organisers will reconvene tomorrow morning at 7am to assess conditions for a possible 7:30am start.

When competition resumes, up first will be Damien Hobgood (USA), 32, up against compatriot Taylor Knox (USA), 40, in Heat 7 of Round 2.
