ASA board bows to pressure

Johannesburg - SASCOC board member Ray Mali said Athletics South Africa's (ASA) suspended staff members had gracefully accepted their suspension, handed down by the Olympic body, after he took over ASA's administration on Monday.

"Athletics is a member of the sports fraternity and has always been a member of Sascoc.

"I met with the ASA general manager (Molatelo Malehopo) and we resolved all that we felt needed to be resolved and he was able to move out gracefully."

ASA president Leonard Chuene was not at the association's Houghton offices when Mali arrived to take over the administration but Mali said he would meet with Chuene as soon as possible.
