WP do invest a lot in player development through all the age group levels, but at the top end of the spectrum they cannot secure the players. I have heard from a lot of players that have gone through the WP structures that the currie cup coaches told them they are in the future plans, but nothing ever materializes.
Its funny how players like Willie Le Roux, JP Pietersen, etc slip through the ranks at WP without ever getting noticed. The Western Cape has an overabundance of quality players, but they will never get a shot, because coaches are scared to take a chance on them or have favourites.
