This is absolutely ridiculous. SARU may as well start moving all the Bok players down to PE as well and forcing them to play for the Kings. Actually, why don't they contaminate all the food for teams playing against the Kings at home so their opponents fall ill with food poisoning? This is no longer sport but a game of political affirmative action without the race card. Part of the mandate of the Kings franchise was to assist in the development of eastern cape players, especially those of colour. Now they want to skew playing fields because they haven't been able to develop their own base of players and bring in players that are not only not South African but also not helping with transformation at all. None of the other new entrants - the Western Force and the Rebels - had this sort of dispensation, and they have an even smaller pool of players to select from. Matt Sexton and co. should be sent packing by SARU but it seems the Kings hold the reins. I normally support SA teams in Super rugby against their NZ and Aus opposition. This will be the first time I support NZ and Aus sides against a 'South African' team. But then maybe the Kings are going to become the first non-SANZAR or Argentine side in super rugby. It certainly looks that way. I blame SARU, not completely but certainly the majority of the blame sits with our 'wonderful' rugby administrators. Clearly they have learnt a few tricks from our ruling party. Or maybe they should just become the rugby wing of the ANC. It certainly seems they have a political agenda rather than a sporting one. This whole issue around the Spears, the Kings-Lions change and now foreigners is farcical and has been allowed to get to this point by a bunch of ineffective and corrupt 'politicians' who run our beloved sport in this country. I know they have not made a decision but the fact they are even considering this is a sign that there is a strong chance the Kings may get their way again. I have lost faith in their ability to manage rugby effectively. They should all just resign and become MP-fat cats and leave rugby to people who actually care about it.
