Best performance of the year for me was the Sept 27 game vs
Aus. We had to beat the Aussies to still have a chance of winning the RC if I
am not mistaken (I think the Arg / NZ game was afterwards, or am I wrong?).
This meant that we won the game under pressure, which, for me, is more
important than a dead rubber game (vs NZ). I know the Kiwis hate losing &
the rivalry between us & them is always massive, but I think the ABs played
at 95% during the Ellis Park test, having already bagged the trophy & not
needing to prepare as much during the leadup week as perhaps if the game would
have been decisive.
I am not trying to belitte the victory vs NZ, but lets face it, they have had
the upper hand in pressure games against us over the past few years. The stats
don't lie.
I hate the Boks losing to NZ, but am just trying to put things into
perspective.
