It will be very difficult for any SA team, maybe except for the Sharks (as they have a better draw), to lift the Super15 trophy. The Sharks look like the team with the most lethal bite. The Stormers might surprise and make the playoffs, however, will have to win this Saturday by beating the kings of the jungle in the crime capital.
Honestly, the Bulls and Lions are making up numbers and the Cheetahs had their ‘surprise, Christmas coming early’ season last year. They won’t make the finals! SA teams must ‘work’ together and beat their opponents down under to make it easier for the Sharks and Stormers to advance.
The Stormers’ ‘(lack of )-brainstrust’ missed out on crucial opportunities again when you look at their ‘shopping list’. Pieter-Steph du Toit, boerseun from Malmesbury, Piet van Zyl and the exciting X-factor Willie le Roux (another ex-Capie), were all up for sale. However, they are not pulling on a Stormers’ jersey on this season. Timo Swiel, was also not give opportunities at the Stormers (while quite a few ex-scholars from last year were given a go against Boland) and he will become a international player; either in Green & Gold or for the Poms!
The Stormers again will not have a crucial 9/10 combo to win the Super 15, however, with Peter ‘Bash’ Grant coming back they at least will have a playoff shot if they start of with victories against the Lions and Hurricanes. They will then go on the ‘tour of hell’: Crusaders, Chiefs, Brumbies and Reds (all title winners before) away. Sometimes it might be better to play all these top dogs away and then have easier must win home fixtures?
