Let Quinny play!

The Proteas have a tendency to cottonwool our younger players and hang on to older players way past their sell-by date.

The few exceptions: Herschelle Gibbs, Graeme Smith, Jacques Kallis and Mark Boucher, players who started their Test careers fairly young, all worked out, so why are the Proteas selectors nowadays so cautious, so conservative.

If ever there was a player screaming out for Test selection. it was Quinton de Kock. Let’s not forget how brittle our batting seemed at times against Pakistan in the UAE, now would have been the ideal time to introduce him, especially against an Indian team that’s not exactly loaded with terrifying bowlers.

Sachin Tendulkar began his Test career at the tender age of 16. Bottom line: if you’re good enough, you’re old enough!
