The kings are yet again taking their inclusion in the Super 15 a bit far. This should not even be a debate at all. The rules state that only 2 foreign players are allowed to be fielded in the 35 man squad for the Super Rugby season. The Kings inclusion in the tournament was already unfairly decided, if they are allowed to have their 5 foreign players in the squad, then I think SASCOCK should get involved and investigate SARU to see why the kings are treated as royalty.
Its simple, the rules are there to be followed, No team should be above those laws. SARU seams to run a mediocre campaign, should they allow for this to happen. Cheecky is trying to bend and bypass most of the rules in order to get what he wants. What's going to be next should this be allowed. Then any team should be allowed to do anything they want and not care about what their respective unions have to say. This cannot go on. The rules are to be respected and followed.
The whole idea of this tournament is to develop local rugby and recruit young talented guys, giving them an opportunity to play on an international level, and prep them should they make the National team. The Kings was to develop the game for their players of color from their region, but as it stands, most of they players are not from the Eastern Cape and now they including 5 International players as well.
They should be disqualified for not sticking to rules and The Lions should be included again. At least we will have a fair Super 15 tournament.
The Kings just seem to be running a scam.
