Fans tip Boks to top All Blacks

Cape Town - Sport24 readers have predicted a Springbok win over the All Blacks in their Rugby Championship Test in Auckland on Saturday.

A renewed wave of optimism has surged over Springbok fans following the Boks' historic 38-12 win over the Wallabies in Brisbane last weekend, where the Springboks won their first ever match at Suncorp Stadium, their first match in the city in 42 years and their first win over the Wallabies in Australia since 2009.

Following the withdrawal of inspirational All Black captain Richie McCaw due to injury, and the All Blacks' unconvincing 28-13 win over Argentina in Hamilton last weekend, many felt circumstances had tipped the scales in the Springboks' favour.

Springbok team doctor Craig Roberts has given the Springboks a clean bill of health ahead of the Test.

The Boks' recent results have cut New Zealand’s cushion at the top of the IRB rankings from 4.35 rating points to 2.7 heading into the match.

The Springboks have only beaten the All Blacks in New Zealand twice in their past 10 matches, the last time being the Springboks' victory in Hamilton in 2009.

According to our online poll, a vast majority of fans have backed the Springboks to beat the All Blacks.

Sport24 asked:

"Ok, so the scene is set. All Blacks v Springboks in Auckland on Saturday. They don't come much bigger than that. Who will win?"

These were the results of the over 4 500 votes cast:

65% - Springboks
25% - All Blacks
10% - Too close to call. I'm going for a draw...

The Test at Eden Park will kick-off at 09:35 SA time.
