Fans predict WP-Sharks final

Cape Town - Sport24 readers have predicted a victory for the table-topping WP and the second-placed Sharks in their Currie Cup semi-finals.

Despite the Sharks losing 17-13 to Western Province at home over the weekend, they are still favoured to beat the Free State Cheetahs in their semi-final in Durban.

Allister Coetzee's men ended the regular season unbeaten, but will have to stay unbeaten to win the competition, however with a home semi-final looming, and a home final if they can defeat the Golden Lions, many feel the competition is WP's to lose.

According to our online poll, 3 in 5 readers predicted the WP and Sharks would meet in the final. With 79% of the voters predicting WP would be one of the finalists, and 70% predicting the Sharks would be one of the teams to contest the final.

Sport24 asked:

"With the Currie Cup semi-final line-up confirmed (WP v Lions and Sharks v Cheetahs), who are you backing to contest the final?"

These were the results:

58% - WP v Sharks
21% - WP v Free State Cheetahs
12% - Sharks v Golden Lions
9% - Free State Cheetahs v Golden Lions
