Fans praise Willie's wizardry

2013-11-18 12:50
Cape Town - Sport24 readers have lavished praise on Springbok fullback Willie le Roux after his man of the match performance against Scotland.

Le Roux scored a try and set up another in a performance that has restored faith in the Cheetahs stars' fullback credentials.

Le Roux received a match rating of 8.5 from Sport24 chief writer Rob Houwing who was glowing in his summation of the utility back's performance:

"Arguably his best, most rounded Test match yet; great statement about his ability to excel at fullback in European conditions. Safe under high balls, tactically sound and alert on defence, but his ghosting into the line and then cross-kick for JP Pietersen’s try was the game’s highlight from a skills point of view. Intercept try of his own was a reward for the way he sums up situations for his team’s benefit."

This is what Sport24 readers had to say about Willie le Roux:

"Well, Willie just proved why he belongs in the bok squad. Good on the man of the match." - Izzi Max

"Willie le Roux deserves man of the match." - Adrian Snyman

"Willie le Roux in his own class!" - Jamba

"HM should consider playing Willie at 10 also, maybe next year in the June tests to see how he goes in that slot." - Sean

"Willie was dynamite." - Tyronne Jardim

"Willie and JPP were just top draw." - S

"Willie le Roux for President!" - Jack Fairon

"15 Willie le Roux: 10/10" - Siya Dlulane

"I am one of Willies most vocal critics. But I am prepared to take back half of the bad stuff I have said about him. Last two games have been very impressive." - Maarten Slabbert
