Cape Town - Sport24 readers have lashed out at the Bafana Bafana team after their 5-0 thrashing at the hands of Brazil at the FNB Stadium.

Fans were scathing of the team, especially after Bafana coach Gordon Igesund insisted they were not as bad as the scoreline suggested.

This is what Sport24 readers had to say about the defeat:

"Comical Gordon!" - Motofogo Molilo

"What game were u watching Ingesund? No one is as blind as he who doesn't want to see. Wake up!!!" - Werner de Villiers

"We did really bad but he didn't see that, that was really embarrassing though most of us didn't really expect a win against the Brazil but we should have done better in our own yard. Once the coach doesn't see anything wrong he must go at least if he was honest and say yeah that was bad and we more work to do, then i would understand." - Nqukuva Mthombo

"Jokes aside, no one in their right mind expected Bafana to beat Brazil. There is the story of David and Golliath and then there is one of Golliath and the Bananna. In this one the outcome is whether the Bananna is still recognizable after it has been badly squashed by the giant." - Jose Perrota

"That was the heaviest defeat in South African Soccer history. Under him we break bad records, I'm not saying Bafana x 2 should have won that game but honestly his tactics were poor. All those goals were through diagonal passes and he did nothing tactically to stop them. FIRE HIM." - Junior Mahlo

"I hate ignorance WE were a disgrace. What game were u watchin really?" - Mbulelo Ngayaka

"Gordon Broke a record we never lost with so much goals in history. He must go.......... straight, always poor perfomance and excuses." - Lungsta Passmore

"It's worse being humiliated at home and yet Gordon Igesund says "they were not so bad..." Coach no man...the players are more worried about their tattoos and Mohawk hairstyles than playing soccer..!" - Arnold Arends

"Your not so bad, just like the country is not so bad... 5 - 0. Come on! Really!" - Ludi Vandernest

"I wonder which game was Igesund watching. After the ease at which the first goal was scored I saw mauling coming and switched to other channels and it's a decision I don't regret. Being mercenaries that Bafana players are, I am sure they only looked at the high profile of the game itself and saw rand signs flashing. I think most them are satisfied with sharing the same pitch Brazilian stars. Just like their coach, results on the night meant nothing." - Richardson Mazaidume

"This coach is delusional." - Fred Amana

"Bafana Bafana players are useless, how can they play like that in front of their own supporters.Losing 5-0 at our own backyard means we are going no where we are like amateurs." - Sithembele Vuta

"Which game was he watching if he thinks we played well? the commitment of our players is quesionable. i agree with mbalula, we are the loosers....not because we lost bt due to the way we always play." - Simo Mqadi

"Was i watching the same game as the coach did? Why is he saying we were not as bad as the score line suggested. How is that even possible? If we went that bad we should have lost 1-0 or something.I don't understand the decisions he makes in the starting line up why didn't he start with Senzo , for me it shows disrespect to the Bafana number 2 especially now when he's doing well.no disrespect to Ronwen Williams.I did not expect us to win but 5-0 was a bit too much." - Karaba Phaleng

"How can the coach call that not bad? everything was worse.bafana bafana should quit playing soccer.its all useless." - Cfound Sifiso

"Poor coaching, bafana have not conceided so many goals against Brazil, accept Gordon u are a looser n u can't coach." - Refiloe DRS Kabhela

"Excuses after excuses,Mr coach just admit Bafana are not dedicated players." - Munyaradzi

"Bafana bafana always Learn something from loosing. By now they all should have PhDs." - Mark Manyana

"Outclassed and outplayed... Sad state of affairs." - Indjun

"Please coach do'nt say that we were not that bad.u really u do'nt have plan B.please just resign." - Frekkie Patsa

"No not that bad...only worse..pathetic display." - Lionel Kritzinger

"My coach please wake up. We were not bad........really!!!!!!! I guess we are a very good team then who lose 5-0. By the way when last did we win an official game in a tournament in which we qualified.......???" - Diratsae Mokona

"Was at the same ground. Where were you coach, pathetic, cant even compare it to school soccer." - Moosa Ravat

"Sugar coating a problem is a recipe for disaster. Attack the problem head on, call the problem by it's name." - Bastille French
