Fans hail Quinny's hat-trick

Cape Town - Sport24 readers have poured praise on Proteas batsman Quinton de Kock after he scored a hat-trick of hundreds in one-day internationals.

De Kock hit his third century in a row as the Proteas recovered from a poor start in the third and final one-day international against India at SuperSport Park on Wednesday.

De Kock made 101 in a South African total of 301/8.

The 20-year-old left-hander joined four other players who had hit a hat-trick of hundreds in one-day internationals - Pakistan's Zaheer Abbas and Saeed Anwar and two South Africans, Herschelle Gibbs and AB de Villiers.

This is what Sport24 readers had to say about De Kock's record-equalling feat:

"What a talent." - Mdu Sizwe Khumalo

"Gibbs and de Villiers also hold records for 3 consecutive 100s. There's 5 in the world in total and 3 of them are South African. Something we can be really proud off." - Char Ou

"Well done De Kock. What a fantastic player." - Ayanda Shaka Sokhela

"Our top 3 batsmen Hashim Amla,Quinton de Kock and AB have scored 709 runs this 3 match series vs India, whilst India's top 3 have scored just 302 runs between them by comparison and just 1 run more than our total for today..." - Sean

"What a way to grab your chance. I hope the selectors do not automatically revert back to Graeme Smith when he is ready to play again." - Mandy Smith

"He needs to give Graeme some pointers for the up coming test series." - Michael Kleber

"What a great batsman South Africa have in Quinton de Kock. Fantastic watching him for the 3rd time and also recently when he scored his first century against Pakistan." - JL Wilson

"congratulations to our SA Brian Lara." - zongamele keli

"What's the record for most hundreds without a fifty? Because, if i'm not mistaken, he's 4-0 now.." - Boetjan van der Merwe

"And he did it against the world champs. I guess that is a first." - TheOldCynical

"but according to the "experts" he's not ready for test cricket!? Replace Petersen with de Kock, imagine : smith/ de Kock/ Kallis/ De Villiers/ Dumminy/ du Plessis...good top six." - Justin Kellerman

"He just 20 years old, but to make hundreds you need to pass fifties , Boetjan give credits to the boy, he is just above everybody when they started." - JR Bussa Mbule

"And only just 21 next week." - SKWERT

"Little Gilchrest in the making?" - Jakes Greyling

"Wow, what a promising young star, with consistency, he is rewriting history." - Thunukenenxeba Sponono Mkabayi Nkophe

"Rare moment, Quinton de Kock wins third man of the match award in a row, plus man of the series." - Nathi Mnisi

"Quinton de K(n)ock... what a player." - Thabiso Snowby Bokwe

"Glad Graeme Smith got sent home, he has been sitting on a seat that no longer belongs to him (in the one day format). Quinton deserves this." - Paul Vuma

"Paul, you are right, I have waited a long time for someone way better to play Mr Smith out of a position. It will, however be a sad day when Kallis retires, but as with all cricket older players must make way. I really hope that the likes of Quinton de Kock fire on all cylinders during the world cup!" - Fargone

"If he can score 259 runs in his next 5 innings then he will equal Sir Viv Richards record of being the fastest batsman to reach 1000 ODI runs... if he takes less then he will beat the legend...This boy is talent. I remember him as a 18year old playing for SA u19 and he was bulllying them like they were 15 year olds." - Hansie Crook

"Well done Quinton de Kock You are a star in the making!!" - Selwyn Breytenbach

"I Strongly agree.Awesome De Kok! Wow Wow Wow !!!" - Christian Apolis

"Congrats Quinton for your great achievement. You have a big influence on the rest of batting order.just a little patience at the end of your 100 will see you though to a possible 200.Hope they include you in next test series.Proudly South African." - Barney Klassin

"Wel done Quinny! Thumps up to de selectors for this brave decision. One more task though, lets find our number 3." - Elliott Masha

"This is the last thing the Protears need. A real, actual, winner." - Bard of Blargowrie
